Switzerland 2038 is the official association leading Switzerland's bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games — the country's first since 1948.
The bid is built on a decentralised model across existing national venues, with sustainability and private-led financing at its core.
Switzerland 2038 has since 2023 entered a privileged dialogue with the IOC, an exclusive bilateral window to refine and advance its candidature through 2027.
One specific ambition: secure a private deficit guarantee of CHF 200 million, demonstrating that Switzerland's leading economic players believe in the project, reducing public financial exposure and strengthening credibility with the IOC
TEAMMATE'S ROLE
TEAMMATE was engaged as a strategic advisor and partnership architect, with a mandate focused on making the private financing model a reality:
- Contributed to design the private deficit guarantee model, its structure and value proposition
- Developed the commercial narrative and presentation materials tailored to senior private sector audiences
- Led outreach and presentations to Switzerland's key economic players: national and international corporates (SMI-listed companies, global players), ultra-high-net-worth individuals, and influential business leaders
- Aligned bid leadership, Swiss Olympic, and national winter sports federations around a unified private deficit guarantee concept
- Conceptualised and structured the Fahnenträger approach, benefit frameworks and risk-share models for long-term investors
OUTCOME
Swiss companies, like On, became the bid's first private 'Fahnenträger' (Flagbearer of the project) partner in the course of 2026, providing a significant financial guarantee and a powerful public endorsement of the model.
This milestone: – Validated the private deficit guarantee model with a marquee Swiss brand – Strengthened the bid's credibility with the IOC and national stakeholders – Created momentum for subsequent private sector engagement
